Scrutiny Of Nomination Papers For Fifth Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections To Take Place Today

The filing of nominations for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Polls ended yesterday. Scrutiny of papers will be held today, May 4, while Monday is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. Polling will be held for 49 Lok Sabha seats in six States and two Union Territories on the 20th of May. Filing of nominations also ended yesterday for the second phase of Assembly polls in Odisha.
 
Many high-profile nominations were filed in Uttar Pradesh yesterday. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination from the high-profile Raebareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He held a mega roadshow before the nomination. Senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, party President Mallikarjun Kharge, party General Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior party leader, Ashok Gehlot were a part of the roadshow along with thousands of party workers.”
 

BJP candidate from Raebareli Dinesh Pratap Singh and Congress Party candidate from Amethi Kishori Lal Sharma also filed their nominations. The only Trinamool Congress candidate in the state Lalitesh Pati Tripathi filed his nomination from the Bhadohi constituency. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party has announced the candidature of Bhagat Ram Mishra from the Kaiserganj seat and Naresh Uttam Patel from Fatehpur.
