President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Bhubaneswar this evening on a four-day visit to Odisha. The President was welcomed by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries at the Biju Patnaik International Airport. President Murmu will be witnessing the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan to be held tomorrow at the holy coastal town of Puri.
AIR correspondent said that President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Bhubaneswar this evening by the special Indian Air Force plane on a four-day visit to her home state Odisha. Governor of the state Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi greeted the President at the airport from where she straightaway drove to grace the 96th Death Anniversary of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das. The President who will stay at the Raj Bhawan tonight will leave for Puri tomorrow morning to witness the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan. The holy town of Puri has been kept under a blanket of security considering the Rath Yatra and the President’s visit. President Murmu will spend the night at Puri and visit the Puri beach on Monday morning. She is scheduled to visit the historic Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves at Bhubaneswar and interact with students from Bibhuti Kanungo College of Art and Crafts and Utkal University of Culture on the same day. Thereafter, she will also inaugurate the Divine Retreat Centre of Brahma Kumaris in Haridamada village near Bhubaneswar and launch the ‘Lifestyle for Sustainability’ campaign. The President will attend the 13th Graduation ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday before returning to Delhi.
