India will host the first World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit, WAVES in Goa from 20th to 24th November this year. Addressing the curtain raiser event in Delhi on Saturday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said India is one of the largest film producing countries in the world. He said WAVES will be the key event to shape future of India’s media and entertainment industry.
Addressing the gathering, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said WAVES will be a significant milestone in development of India’s entertainment industry. He highlighted that the focus is on creating more jobs in media and entertainment industry. He said media and entertainment world is going through a structural change. The Minister said it has seen wave after wave of technology and the role of public policy is to be able to harness the best out of structural change and support the industry. He stressed that IP rights hold huge value in media sector and government will be strengthening ecosystem for protecting IP rights.
