India will host the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit tomorrow in a virtual format. The theme of the Summit is “An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future.” Briefing reporters in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that all Global South countries have been invited to attend the summit.
The Global South Summit will serve as a platform to expand discussions held in previous summits on a range of complex challenges that continue to affect the world, such as conflicts, food and energy security crises, and climate change. At the Summit, the countries of the Global South will continue deliberations on challenges, priorities, and solutions for the Global South, particularly in the developmental domain. The inaugural session will be at the Head of State and Government level and will be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson also informed that the third round of the India-Japan 2+2 Foreign-Defence Ministers meeting is scheduled to be held on the 20th of August in Delhi. Mr. Jaiswal said that Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will attend the meeting from the Indian side.
