India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Konkan-Goa in the next 5 days. According to the IMD, Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maharashtra, remaining parts of Vidarbha, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.
IMD said that a cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam and neighbourhood. Under its influence widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and SubHimalayan West Bengal during the next five days.
Talking to Akashvani News, Scientist in IMD, Soma Sen Roy said that heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh till Monday and in Jammu division till 25th of this month.
Meanwhile, rain lashed parts of Delhi today bringing much-needed respite to people from the scorching heat. Delhi has been reeling under an intense heatwave resulting in severe water crisis in several areas. According to the weather department, 3.6 millimeter rainfall has been recorded in the city today.
