The Indian Metrological Department has issued red alert to Mumbai and Thane district for two days, and predicting heavy rainfall in isolated areas today.
Rain lashes parts of Mumbai, and Pune district this morning. Local trains on Central and Harbour Railway lines are running late.
Heavy rain led to severe water logging in low-lying areas of the city.
The IMD has issued a warning for high tide in the sea of Mumbai that is likely to go up to 3.69 meters, advising people avoid going out unless necessary.
An orange alert has also been issued Palghar , Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra’s Kokan region.
