Union Home Minister Amit Shah is chairing a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and other senior officials of the Ministry are attending the meeting. Vibrant Villages Programme is Centrally Sponsored Scheme for comprehensive development of the select villages in 46 blocks in 19 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Ladakh.
The objective of the programme is comprehensive development of these villages to improve the quality of life of people and thereby reversing outmigration. The programme envisages focused areas of interventions for creation of opportunities for livelihood generation through promotion of agriculture, horticulture, tourism and cultural heritage, skill development and entrepreneurship and development of co-operative societies for managing livelihood opportunities.
