Election Commission Pays Homage To Mahatma Gandhi At Rajghat; Dedicates Recently Concluded Violence-Free Polls To Father Of The Nation

The Election Commission paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on Thursday (6th June 2024) evening and dedicated the recently concluded violence-free polls to the Father of the Nation. In its statement, the Commission said Mahatma Gandhi’s message of non-violence inspired its commitment towards peaceful and violence-free elections. It said the Commission has made its best efforts to ensure that the right to franchise of the most ordinary Indian is not denied at any cost. It said all States of India and Union
Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, and Manipur have set an example with their mature conduct that bodes well for the future. It stressed that ballots and not bullets are the way to peace and development.
 
The poll body also emphasised that it rebuffed all attempts to vitiate the electoral process with rumors and baseless doubts which could have fomented unrest.
