The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the Governor, who is the Chancellor of the universities in the state, not to issue final orders until the writ petitions filed by the Vice Chancellors are disposed of.Justice Devan Ramachandran issued the interim order while considering the petitions filed by ten Vice Chancellors challenging the show cause notice issued to them by the Governor.The Governor sought three more days time to file the counter plea, as he was out of the state till recently.The Court listed the case for hearing on Thursday next week.The Supreme Court recently held the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of the Abdul Kalam Technological University as illegal and void abinitio. Following this, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan sought the resignation of the other Vice Chancellors, citing violation of UGC norms in their appointments.Meanwhile, in another case, the High Court refused to stay the appointment of Dr. Ciza Thomas, who was appointed by the Governor as the Vice Chancellor in charge of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The Court suo-motu impleaded UGC as a respondent in the case.
