Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has reiterated the need for creating a ‘fit-for purpose’ global healthcare ecosystem. He said, for this, there is a need to ensure sustainable financing, International Health Regulation reforms, and seamless discussions among intergovernmental negotiating bodies in WHO, GAVI, G7, and G20. Dr. Mandaviya was delivering his concluding remarks at the Second G20 Health Ministerial Meeting in Bali, Indonesia today, October 28.He supported the call of his Indonesian counterpart for prioritizing manufacturing and research hubs for medical counter-measures to ensure that the world is prepared to counter any future medical challenges. The Health Minister also outlined India’s plan to prioritize health emergency prevention, preparedness, and response. He emphasised strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and improving healthcare service delivery during the upcoming Indian Presidency.Dr. Mandaviya also proposed site events such as Digital Health Workshop on collaborative research to expand access to medical counter-measures and holistic healthcare.
