Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot allowed free travel for women, girls in roadways buses on International Women’s Day date 8 March 2021.
Known as a leader who goes out of his way to work for the betterment of women, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, on Wednesday, approved a proposal to allow women and girls to travel free of cost in state roadways buses across Rajasthan on Women’s Day, i.e. March 8. In return, the state government will reimburse the roadways for the ticket.
However, the free travel facility will not apply to AC and Volvo buses but women will get to travel free in all ordinary and express buses.
Notably, if anyone boards a bus leaving the borders of Rajasthan and entering another state, then the ticket will have to be purchased as free travel facility will not be provided on inter-state travel.
Interestingly, Rajasthan government provides free travel facility to women and girls in roadways buses twice a year. Along with Women’s Day, free travel is also provided in roadways buses on Rakshabandhan.
