Sensex and Nifty fell for the 4th day in a row. amid negative queues from the Global share markets. The BSE Sensex shed 668 points, or 0.89 percent, to close at 74503. The NSE Nifty dropped 183 points, or 0.8 per cent, to settle at 22705.
In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index decreased by 0.38 percent while the Small-cap index added 0.23 percent.
In the Sensex Index, which is a pack of 30 companies, shares of 24 companies appreciated, 6 companies declined.
Power Grid 1.52 percent, Sunpharma 0.92 percent and Nestle India 0.7 percent were the top 3 gainers.
On the other hand, Tech Mahendra 2.35 percent, ICICI Bank 2.2 percent and Axis Bank 1.92 percent were 3 majour laggards today.
In sectoral indices at the BSE, 7 Sectors registered gains, 13 witnessed losses.
Telecommunication and Health care rose 0.31 Percent, Power, Utilities and Industrials registered above 0.2 percent.
On the other hand, Bankex fell 1.37 percent, Financial Services dropped 1.32 percent and Oil and Gass slid 0.95 percent.
The overall Market breadth was negative, as the shares of 1680 companies advanced, 2136 companies declined and 113 companies remain unchanged.
