Foreign Capital outflows and the rise in Crude Oil prices overseas led the Rupee to loose 5 paise and close at 83.49 against the US Dollar.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the Rupee opened at 83.40 and touched the intra-day low of 83.50 against the greenback during the session before closing at 83.49.
The US Dollar, which indicates its strength against a basket of six other leading currencies was up by 0.09 per cent at 104.30.
