India’s Equity Benchmark Indices ended in Green today amid mixed global cues. The Sensex rose 204 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 76,811.
Nifty gained 76 points, or 0.33 percent, to settle at 23,399.
In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap indices up by 0.79 percent and the Small-cap indices climbed 0.89 percent. In the Sensex index, 20 out of 30 companies registered gains.
The top three gainers today were Mahindra and Mahindra 2.73 percent, Titan 2.68 percent and Larsen and Toubro 2.06 percent. Conversely, the three major laggards were Hindustan Unilever 1.64 percent, icici Bank 1.10 percent and Axis Bank 0.99 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 15 out of 20 Sectors logged gains. While four witnessed losses and Metal sector ended nearly flat. The top three gainers were Realty 2.15 percent, Capital Goods 2.05 percent and Consumer Durables 2.01 percent.
Whereas, Telecommunication 0.89 percent and FMCG 0.46 percent were the only two laggards.
The overall Market breadth was positive. Out of 3,984 Companies, the shares of 2,345 companies advanced, 1,539 declined and 100 remain unchanged.
The Indian rupee falls 7 paise to close at 83.55 against the US dollar.
The US Dollar, which indicates its strength against a basket of six other leading currencies was up by 0.31 percent at 104.95.
In the Commodity market, Gold and Silver prices witnessed a dip today. The precious metal, for 5th August 2024 contract, fell by 0.86 percent and traded at 71,354 rupees per 10 grams.
On the other hand, Silver for 5th July 2024 contract, slipped 2.12 percent and traded at 88,525 rupees per kg when the reports last came in.
In the global markets, gold was trading 1.37 percent down at 2,322 dollars and 60 cents per ounce on Comex. Meanwhile, Silver was trading in red by 3.57 percent at 29 dollars and 19 cents per ounce in the intra-day session, when the reports last came in.

Two out of three US Indices ended in Green on Tuesday. Nasdaq added 1.53 percent, S&P 500 gained 0.85 percent. While, Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.09 percent.
Major Asian indices showed mixed behaviour today. Both South Korea’s Kospi and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng soared 0.97 percent each. Singapore’s Straits Times index gained 0.51 percent. Whereas, Japan’s Nikkei slipped 0.40 percent and China’s Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.28 percent.
In the European market, major indices were trading on the lower side today. France’s CAC tanked 1.25 percent, Germany’s DAX down by 1.10 percent and London’s FTSE fell 0.48 percent, when the reports last came in.
