Indian Equity Benchmark Indices Sensex and Nifty dropped 0.03 percent, ended flat after opening high today. The BSE Sensex slid 27 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 79,897. Similarly, the NSE Nifty shed 9 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 24,316.
In the NSE Nifty Index, 144 Companies hit their 52 week high, 8 hit their 52 week low. In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index was up by 0.34 percent, while the Small-cap index rose 0.57 percent. 15 out of 30 companies registered gains in the Sensex index.
The top three gainers today were ITC 1.64 percent, Tata Motors 1.52 percent and Asian Paint 0.93 percent.
Conversely, the three major laggards were, Bajaj Finance 1.48 percent, Mahendra and Mahendra 1.24 percent and NTPC 1.14 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 15 out of 20 sectors logged gain.
The top three gainers were, Oil and Gas 1.68 percent, Energy 1.2 percent and Services 1.13 percent. Conversely, the 3 major laggards were, Realty 1.41 percent, Auto 0.43 percent and Power 0.39 percent. The overall Market breadth at the BSE was positive. Out of 4,023 Companies, the shares of 2,172 companies advanced, 1,739 declined and 112 remain unchanged.
Weak tone in domestic markets and the recovering Crude Oil Prices pushed Rupee 5 paisa down to close at 83.56 against the US Dollar.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the Rupee opened at 83.49, but lost ground and touched an intraday low of 83.59 against the US dollar during the session before settling at 83.56 at the end of the day.
All five major Asian Indices had a rally today. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index climbed 2.02 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.04 percent while Japan’s Nikkei gained 0.93 percent. South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.81 percent and Singapore’s Straits Times index added 0.44 percent.
All three European major Indices ended in Green today. Germany’s DAX gained 0.12 percent, U.K.’s FTSE increased by 0.17 percent and France’s CAC 40 also was trading at 0.27 percent up when reports last came in.
All three US major indices witnessed rally on Wednesday as the investors await US Inflation data later today.
Nasdaq gained 1.18 percent, Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.09 percent and S&P 500 added 1.02 percent.
Gold is trading higher today. The Precious Metal, for the 5th August 2024 contract, rose 0.17 percent and it was trading at 72,788 rupees per 10 Grams.
On the other hand, Silver is trading nearly half a percent up. The White Metal, for the 5th September 2024 contract, gained 0.47 percent today and was trading at 93,270 rupees per kilogram when reports last came in.
Brent and WTI Crude are experiencing a recovery in the Global Crude market today.
Brent crude increased by 0.15 percent, to 85 dollars and 21 cents a barrel. The U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is marginally up by 0.04 percent, to 21 dollars and 13 cents a barrel, when reports last came in.
