Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will chair the 53rd GST Council meeting in New Delhi today. The GST Council is meeting for the first time after the formation of a new government. The last GST Council meeting was held on October 7th, last year. During the meeting, the council took several decisions. The GST Council had recommended amendments in the conditions of appointment of the President and Member of the proposed GST Appellate Tribunals regarding eligibility and age. The Council had also recommended a nil rate for the food preparation of millet flour in powder form.
