BJP wins by-election on Gola Gokarnanath seat in Lakhimpur district, Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, BJP has won the by-election on Gola gokarnanath seat in the Lakhimpur district. As per the election commission, the BJP candidate from the seat Aman Giri defeated his rival candidate Vinay Tiwari of the Samajwadi Party with a margin of more than 34 thousand votes. After 32 rounds of counting which took place amidst tight security BJP managed to retain this seat.The bypoll was necessitated after BJP MLA from the seat Arvind Giri died on September 6. BJP nominated Aman Giri who is the son of Arvind Giri for the party nominee on this seat. Seven contestants were in the fray and Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress have not taken part in the contest.
