AQI of Delhi NCR improves slightly from severe to very poor category

The air quality in National Capital Delhi has slightly improved from the severe to the very poor category, as the overall Air Quality Index stood at 357 at 6 AM today, November 6. According to the IMD, the air quality is likely to improve further but remain in the Very Poor category from today till Tuesday.Yesterday, November 5, the air quality was in the severe category as the overall Air Quality Index of the city stood at 431. In Noida sector 62, the AQI was recorded at 341, Gurgram, at 327, and Faridabad at 325 at 6 AM today.As per SAFAR, a forecasting agency under the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, AQI is likely to improve due to unfavorable upper level wind flow from stubble-burning areas preventing the inflow of pollutants to Delhi.The agency said the stubble emissions with a fire count of 1761 contribute 21 percent to PM2.5 in Delhi. Its data showed that fine particle size less than 2.5 micrometer contributes 60 percent to PM10.
